About us

She Never Called It Medicine

My grandmother never had a medicine cabinet.

What she had was a kitchen.

Turmeric tucked beside the stove. Dried ginger hanging near the window. A small stone mortar worn smooth from decades of grinding. And hands that knew — without measuring, without thinking — exactly what each person in our family needed to feel well again.

I grew up in a traditional South Indian Brahmin household in Karnataka, India. In our home, Ayurveda was not a wellness trend. It was not something you read about in a book or discovered on the internet. It was simply how we lived. How we ate. How we healed. How we took care of each other — generation after generation after generation.

My grandmother learned from her mother. Her mother learned from hers. Centuries of living wisdom, passed down through hands and kitchens and quiet morning rituals that never made it into any book — and certainly never into English.

Until now.

Who Is Behind AyurLoom?

My name is Sanathani.

I am an Indian Brahmin woman from Karnataka — a Bachelor of Engineering graduate by education, and a traditional wellness knowledge carrier by birth.

For years I have immersed myself in authentic Kannada-language teachings from traditional Ayurvedic gurus and practitioners — healers who have spent their entire lives preserving knowledge that exists nowhere in mainstream English media. I have studied thousands of hours of these authentic Kannada transcripts, translating and understanding remedies that most of the world has simply never heard.

Not because this knowledge is secret. But simply because nobody has done the work of carrying it across the language barrier — and across the ocean — into American homes where it is genuinely needed.

That is what I am doing here at AyurLoom.

My Qualifications — Honest and Clear

I want to be completely transparent with you about who I am and what I bring to AyurLoom.

  • A Bachelor of Engineering graduate from Karnataka, India
  • A woman who grew up in a traditional South Indian Brahmin household where Ayurvedic practice was daily life — not a hobby or a trend

  • A translator of traditional knowledge — carrying genuine Karnataka Brahmin wellness wisdom into English for the first time
  • A researcher with access to thousands of authentic Kannada traditional wellness transcripts that have never been translated before

What I am not:

  • A licensed medical doctor or physician
  • A registered nurse or healthcare provider
  • A licensed nutritionist or registered dietitian

This honesty is not a weakness. It is the foundation of your trust in AyurLoom — and trust is everything.

Why AyurLoom?

A loom weaves threads into fabric. Into something beautiful. Into something that lasts.

AyurLoom is my attempt to weave two worlds together — the ancient Ayurvedic wisdom of Karnataka’s traditional Brahmin households, and the modern wellness needs of Americans who are genuinely searching for something real.

Something that is not copied from another website. Something that is not generated by an algorithm. Something that was actually lived — in a real kitchen, by a real grandmother, for a real family.

Most Ayurveda content in English is written by people who read about Ayurveda.

AyurLoom is written by someone who lived it.

What Makes AyurLoom Different

Here is the honest truth about most Ayurveda content online.

The majority of English-language Ayurveda articles are written by Western wellness writers who learned about Ayurveda from books, courses, or other English websites. The knowledge has been translated, filtered, summarized, and simplified so many times that much of what made it powerful has been lost.

AyurLoom is different in three specific ways:

1. The source is primary. Every remedy on AyurLoom comes directly from authentic Kannada-language teachings by traditional practitioners — or from my own family’s generational practice. Nothing is copied from other English websites. Nothing is paraphrased from mainstream Ayurveda books. This is original, first-generation translation of living traditional knowledge.

2. The knowledge has never been published in English before. Remedies like the Cluster Fig bark kashaya for digestive balance, the traditional Snana Choorna bath powder recipe, and the specific Agni-balancing protocols I share — these exist nowhere else in the English-speaking internet. I searched. They are not there. That is our competitive advantage and our responsibility.

3. The experience is lived, not learned. I did not discover Ayurveda at a wellness retreat or in a university course. I grew up inside it. I watched my grandmother make Gasagase Payasa for an uncle who could not sleep. I watched her grind sandalwood paste on a worn stone slab every morning. I watched her reach into her spice cupboard — not her medicine cabinet — whenever anyone in the family needed care. That is a different kind of knowledge. And Google’s own quality guidelines now specifically reward it.

What You Will Find Here

At AyurLoom, every remedy, every recipe, and every piece of wisdom comes from one of two places:

My grandmother’s kitchen — the remedies she made without thinking, the rituals she followed without questioning, the wisdom she carried in her hands for decades.

Authentic Kannada Ayurvedic practitioners — real gurus and traditional healers speaking in Kannada, sharing knowledge that has never been translated into English before.

You will find genuinely researched traditional wellness content on topics including:

  • 😴 Sleep and insomnia — the kind that keeps you staring at the ceiling at 2 AM
  • 😰 Stress and anxiety — the weight that modern life puts on your shoulders every day
  • Skin health and natural glow — without chemicals, without expensive products

A Note to Every Woman Reading This

I know why you are here.

You have tried the products. You have read the labels. You have spent more money than you want to think about on things that promised to help and mostly did not.

You are tired of feeling like your body is a problem to be solved with the right purchase.

You are searching for something that actually works. Something natural. Something that has stood the test of time — not just a few years of marketing, but centuries of real human experience.

Your grandmother probably knew some version of this wisdom too. Every culture carries it. Most of it has been forgotten in the rush toward modern medicine and modern convenience.

I have not forgotten mine.

And now — through AyurLoom — it belongs to you too. 🌿

An Important Note About the Content on AyurLoom

Everything on this website is shared for educational and informational purposes only.

AyurLoom is not a medical resource. Nothing here should be used to diagnose, treat, or replace professional medical care. Traditional Ayurvedic knowledge and modern medicine are different systems — both have value, and neither replaces the other.

Before trying any remedy or making changes to your health routine, please consult a qualified, licensed healthcare professional — especially if you are pregnant, nursing, managing a medical condition, or taking medications.

I share this knowledge as a traditional wellness carrier — honestly, carefully, and with deep respect for both the ancient wisdom I carry and the modern world you live in.

The Story Behind the Name

Ayur — from Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of life and wellness. A word that Americans increasingly recognize and seek out.

Loom — a loom weaves separate threads into a unified, lasting fabric. AyurLoom weaves the ancient threads of Karnataka’s traditional Brahmin wisdom into the modern fabric of American wellness.

Together, the name carries a hidden meaning that I love deeply — it sounds like heirloom. And that is exactly what this knowledge is. A precious inheritance passed down through generations. Something rare. Something that was almost lost. Something worth preserving and sharing.
